The Playing XI, Match Preview and Pitch Report are ready for the 9th match of IPL 2022!
The Mumbai Indians and the Rajasthan Royals will clash in the ninth match of the Indian Premier League on the 2nd of April at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. The match will be the first of the double-headers with Gujarat Titans taking on the Delhi Capitals in the night game.
Mumbai Indians retained their captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard while the Rajasthan Royals retained Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal before the auction.
At the auction table, the Mumbai Indians broke the bank for Ishan Kishan, Tim David and Jofra Archer while the Rajasthan Royals went big for Prasidh Krishna, Shimron Hetmeyer and Trent Boult.
MI vs RR Probable XI
Rajasthan Royals Probable XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler (WK), Devdutt Paddikal, Sanju Samson (C), Shimron Hetmeyer, Riyan Parag, James Neesham, Ravichandran Ashwin, Navdeep Saini, Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal
Mumbai Indians Probable XI: Ishan Kishan (WK), Rohit Sharma (C), Suryakumar Yadav, Sanjay Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Daniel Sams, Mayank Markande, Tymal Mills, Jasprit Bumrah
Mumbai Indians look like a top-heavy side with Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav while the middle-order lacks quality with the departure of the Pandya brothers. If Trent Boult can get the new ball talking, the Rajasthan Royals will have a great chance of getting into the untested middle-order of the Mumbai Indians.
Conversely, if Mumbai gets off to a flyer, finishers Kieron Pollard and Tim David could really hurt the Rajasthan Royals at the back end of the innings.
Yashasvi Jaiswal needs a big year to justify his retention, while the Rajasthan Royals will hope that Devdutt Paddikal continues his good form over the last two years. The Royals will have to play just two fast bowlers to fit both Chahal and Ashwin in the side which will, in turn, force them into playing a fast-bowling all-rounder in James Neesham.

MI vs RR Pitch Report
There is very little to go on for all sides as far as the pitch at the DY Patil Stadium is concerned. A total of 20 games will be played at this venue in the league phase. It hosted the IPL finals in 2008 and also hosted 6 games in 2010 including the semi-finals, 3rd place-off and the final.
The pitch is generally good for batting and the captain who wins the toss should opt to bowl first as there will be dew later on.
Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals Head to Head record
Total Matches Played – 25
Won by Mumbai Indians – 13
Won by Rajasthan Royals – 11
No Result – 1
Historically, Mumbai Indians have had the wood over the Rajasthan Royals, winning 13 games in 25 but the trend has changed since 2018 as the Rajasthan Royals have proved to be the bogey side for the 5-time champions, winning 5 out of the last 8.
Hence, the Rajasthan Royals might continue their good form against Rohit Sharma’s side.
