The Playing XI, Match Preview and Pitch Report are ready for the 6th match of IPL 2022!
Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Kolkata Knight Riders face off on the 30th of March at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai to kick off the second round of fixtures in the IPL.
Virat Kohli has stepped down as captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore after 11 years at the helm and Faf du Plessis has been appointed as the new skipper of the side. The Kolkata Knight Riders have also changed captains this season as Shreyas Iyer took over from Eoin Morgan.
The Bangalore franchise retained Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohamed Siraj while the Kolkata Knight Riders held on to the likes of Andre Russell, Venkatesh Iyer, Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine before the auction.
RCB vs KKR Probable XI
Royal Challengers Bangalore Probable XI: Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli, Mahipal Lomror, Glenn Maxwell, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Anuj Rawat, Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Shahbaz Ahmed, Mohammed Siraj, Josh Hazlewood
Kolkata Knight Riders Probable XI: Venkatesh Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer (C), Nitish Rana, Sam Billings (wk), Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Sunil Narine, Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakravarthy, Umesh Yadav.
The Kolkata Knight Riders could have an issue with the scoring rate if Venkatesh Iyer doesn’t fire for them at the top, especially against the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Josh Hazlewood, who are excellent in the powerplay. Rahane, Iyer and Nitish Rana tend to start slow, which could lead them into a muddle.
The Knight Riders could unleash Pat Cummins against the opening pair of Du Plessis and Kohli to try and get them early and expose the middle-order. Bangalore’s finishing will be heavily dependent on the experienced Dinesh Karthik, who hasn’t played much cricket leading into the tournament.
The battle between Harshal Patel and Andre Russell at the death could be crucial and whoever wins it can tilt the game in their team’s favour. The match could be decided between Royal Challengers Bangalore’s finishers against the death bowlers of Kolkata as both teams lack quality in these areas.

RCB vs KKR Pitch Report
There is very little to go on for all sides as far as the pitch at the DY Patil Stadium is concerned. A total of 20 games will be played at this venue in the league phase. It hosted the IPL finals in 2008 and also hosted 6 games in 2010 including the semi-finals, 3rd place-off and the final.
The pitch is generally good for batting and the captain who wins the toss should opt to bowl first as there will be dew later on.
RCB vs KKR Head to Head record
Total Matches Played – 27
Won by Royal Challengers Bangalore – 13
Won by Kolkata Knight Riders – 14
Their head-to-head record favours the Kolkata Knight Riders slightly, but on a good batting wicket, their bowling might struggle, which is why a victory for Faf Du Plessis’ men could be on the cards.
