The Playing XI, Match Preview and Pitch Report are ready for the 10th match of IPL 2022!
The second game of the double-header on Sunday, 2nd April will see the Delhi Capitals locking horns with the Gujarat Titans at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
Gujarat Titans prized Hardik Pandya away from Mumbai Indians and also made him the captain of the side. They also poached Rashid Khan from the Sunrisers Hyderabad and their third retention was Shubman Gill. Delhi Capitals let go of Shreyas Iyer whilst retaining Rishabh Pant, Prithvi Shaw, Axar Patel and Anrich Nortje.
At the auction table, Gujarat Titans went big for Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami and Rahul Tewatia while the Delhi Capitals shelled out big money for Shardul Thakur, David Warner and Mitch Marsh.
Gujarat Titans vs Delhi Capitals Match Details
Match: Indian Premier League 2022, Match number 10.
Teams: Gujarat Titans (GT) vs Delhi Capitals (DC)
Date/Day: Sunday/2nd April 2022
Venue: Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune
Time: 7:30 PM IST
GT vs DC Probable XI
Delhi Capitals XI: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Mitch Marsh, Rishabh Pant (C/WK), Lalit Yadav, Sarfaraz Khan, Rovman Powell, Axar Patel, Anrich Nortje, Chetan Sakariya, Shardul Thakur
Gujarat Titans Probable XI: Shubman Gill, Abhinav Manohar, Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya (C), David Miller, Matthew Wade, Rahul Tewatia, Jayant Yadav/Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Rashid Khan, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami
Hardik Pandya has to bowl as he has an important responsibility of being the third pacer alongside Lockie Ferguson and Mohammad Shami. If Hardik doesn’t bowl, the Gujarat Titans will only have two fast bowlers to work with. So it’s imperative that the Gujarat captain gives at least two overs.
The rest of the bowling looks after itself with Ferguson and Shami as the pacers and the spin department is in good hands with Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia. Gujarat Titans will also have a hard job facing Nortje with the new ball as their top-order apart from Gill looks weak.
Prithvi Shaw and David Warner will also have to face the wrath of Shami and Ferguson with the new ball, and the lower-middle order of the Delhi Capitals isn’t looking as strong as last year. They might miss a pinch hitter at the death, a role that Marcus Stoinis has performed admirably for them over the last 2 years.
GT vs DC Pitch Report
The average first innings score on this ground in T20s is 168.5 which suggests it is pretty good for batting. Generally, teams prefer to chase here because of a barren pitch, dew and shorter boundaries.
Fast bowlers might get some assistance early on, but as the game progresses, the 22-yard pitch tends to slow down, and spinners too may come into play.
The off-spinners have enjoyed the most success at this venue, conceding just 6.75 runs an over while fast bowlers leak runs at 7.4.
GT vs DC Prediction
There is no head-to-head record to go on but it would have mattered very little anyway with the teams changing drastically.
Delhi Capitals look like they have done the business once again on the auction table. Their bowling attack might enjoy bowling at the MCA Stadium, which will be very difficult for the Gujarat Titans to stop.
